The Groveland Water and Sewer Department is working to repair a water main leak on Rt. 97.

The break occurred on Rt. 97 near Federal Way. Water service will be shut down on Rt. 97, otherwise known as Salem Street, from the intersection of School Street to the Georgetown line so that crews can make repairs.

Crews are on scene at this time, excavating the area around the leak in order to locate its source and make appropriate repairs.

Service is expected to be restored later this afternoon. Residents in the immediate vicinity may experience discolored water when service is restored, and they are urged to run the water for several minutes until any sediment is cleared. Once restored and run clear, the water will be safe for all uses.

The Groveland Water and Sewer Department regrets any inconvenience this causes, but crews are on scene and will be working aggressively to repair the break. It is not known what caused the break at this time.

Residents are highly encouraged to sign up for the town’s E-Alerts at https://www.grovelandma.com/subscribe.
