GROVELAND — Superintendent Colin Stokes and the Groveland Water and Sewer Department report that the temporary outdoor watering restriction put in place early Monday has been lifted.

“We want to thank residents for their cooperation during our period of water restriction that took place today,” Stokes said. “At this time we are pleased to say outside watering can be resumed.”

Two of the town’s three wells were down Monday due to mechanical and electric problems, and they were unable to pump water into the distribution system. Residents were notified via an automated phone call about the outdoor restriction.

At this time, one of the down well has been repaired, allowing the department to operate at a much higher pumping capacity.

The remaining well will be out of service until further repair work can be completed, however it will not affect the town’s ability to use water for all uses, indoors and outside.
