Groveland Water and Sewer Department Makes Repairs to Water Main at Pentucket Regional Middle School

GROVELAND — Superintendent Colin Stokes reports that the Groveland Water Department, with assistance from East Coast Excavating Inc., has repaired a break in the old water main at Pentucket Regional Middle School that was discovered Thursday and forced the Middle and High Schools to temporarily shift to remote learning.

The water main break was discovered on Thursday afternoon on the Groveland side of the Pentucket Regional School District’s 20 Main St. property.

The old water main has long been a problem for the school district. Another break occurred on Jan. 15, 2019, less than 50 feet away from the most recent break.

The water infrastructure on the campus is owned by the Pentucket Regional School District. Entirely new water mains are being installed as part of the new Middle-High School building project.

“This water main has been a known problem on the Pentucket property for several years, but thankfully it will no longer be a problem once the new school buildings are completed,” Stokes said.

While the break caused an interruption in water service to the Pentucket complex, it did not affect water service in the rest of Groveland.
